Peter Long

  • Project Details

Peter first became interested in painting while on leave in Rome, Italy, during the Second World War. He had been given an address of an Italian family to visit. One of the family members turned out to be a teacher in landscape art. Peter spent 10 days with this family, during which time his interest in painting became forged.

About 1975, after returning to New Zealand, Peter started to paint and in 1981, after retiring, started painting full time.

He feels he is self taught and gets great pleasure from painting the beautiful landscapes of Fiordland, the Mackenzie Country and the Lakes of the South Island of New Zealand.

Peter's paintings are in art collections all over the world.
